To: GEA Mailinglist From: HC Newsletter Date: Mon, 01 Sep 2008 11:17:10 +0200 Subject: (GEA) September Programme is online! Move with the times The hot potato this month was our planned move to the Altm=C3=BCnchner=20 Gesellenhaus did not go as planned. However Darryl found an alternative=20 venue, the Hungaria Gulasch Express, close by (see location page) and it=20 received highly favourable remarks from the people who attended the 1st=20 Stammtisch held there on 22nd August. The food was good, the drinks were=20 moderately priced with friendly and efficient staff. It has a terrace,=20 which is very quiet and we may use this on warm evenings. So, in conclusion, we will be meeting there at least on all four Fridays=20 in September. Review of Hike on 3.8.2008 Waltraud, helped by Cornelia, organized a great hiking event on one of=20 the hottest weekends of August. 26 of us took the train from Munich to=20 Hammersbach from where we hiked through the wet and cool gorge (Klamm).=20 After about 2.5 hours the last people, who had been temporarily lost,=20 reached the H=C3=B6llentalangerh=C3=BCtte, where we rested before returning= via=20 the Stegsteig, steps laid on the steep and narrow ascent avoiding the=20 wet gorge, eventually taking us back to Hammersbach. Photo and write-up courtesy of Ute Becker Thanks Darryl Darryl Baptiste has decided to resign his services from the GEA=20 committee, and Chris Aldridge will be acting chairman until a new=20 chairman is elected. The GEA would like to thank Darryl for his important contributions to=20 the committee. Renzo Scapin has also regrettably resigned from the committee. See you=20 at other events, Renzo.
